March of Dimes-March for Babies

For 80 years, March of Dimes has helped millions of babies survive and thrive. Now we’re building on that legacy to level the playing field for all moms and babies, no matter their age, socio-economic background or demographics. We support moms throughout their pregnancy, even when everything doesn’t go according to plan. We advocate for policies that prioritize their health. We support radical improvements to the care they receive. And we pioneer research to find solutions to the biggest health threats to moms and babies.

Every year the brothers of OLA participate in the fundraising and walk held at Nationals Park. We walk along side other March of Dimes supporters, while raising money and advocating for policies that prioritize the health and well being of mothers and babies.

Central Union Mission

Central Union Mission is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the oldest private social service agency in Washington, DC.  In addition to its emergency shelter, which provides over 62,000 bed-nights each year, the Mission operates a holistic, Christ-centered transformation and workforce development program for men, provides benefits for veterans, helps people overcome addictions, operates a food and clothing distribution center, which provides food for over 4000 people each month, runs a camp for underprivileged children, and offers a ministry to families and senior citizens.

A few times a year the brothers of OLA go to Central Union Mission, to help cook and serve breakfast. Brothers also replace bedding in the sleeping areas so that the next guests who stay have clean sheets to sleep on.

Capital Area Food Bank

The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with over 450 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping nearly half a million people each year get access to good, healthy food.

The brothers of OLA usually assist in packing and organizing food that is sent out to the numerous families in the DC Metro area.
